Transport Layer Security is very similar to Secure Sockets Layer; in fact, many people use the terms TSL and SSL interchangeably, however, there are minor differences. Secure Sockets Layer is the Predecessor to Transport Layer Security and Transport Layer Security has a marginally higher level of security.
